What's the absolutely best Sweden has to offer, according to the tourists? No, it's not the raukar on Gotland or the Stockholm archipelago.

  • Best usage of marketing and distribution: Volvo XC (Cross Country) travels.
  • It’s Astrid Lindgrens Värld in Vimmerby. At least if you ask the foreign tourists themselves. Astrid Lindgren was in a class all of her own during the recent Svenska Turistgalan (Swedish Tourist Gala). Astrid Lindgrens Värld in Vimmerby took first place, Junibacken in Stockholm came in third, squeezed in between the two was Skansen. The prize is called Trip Global Awards and the jury consists of Norwegian, Finnish, Danish, German, Italian, French, British and Russian travel agents. “Of course it feels like an honor,” said Mikael Ahlerup, Managing Director at Astrid Lindgrens Värld.
“Especially when you’re in competition with experiences such as Skansen and Kungsleden.”

  • The complete top list in Trip Global Awards 2011 looks like this:
