No Scandinavian (Swedish) Summer celebration is complete without the 'Midsommarstång' / Midsummer May pole. The Jamestown pole proudly fly the Swedish colors.

Many celebrations have passed but don’t despair – there is still ample opportunity for you to get your fill of Scandinavian celebrations in the U.S.

An amazing, relaxed and fun-filled 3-day festival in an area which at one point in history had one of the highest percentages of Swedish-Americans of any city in the U.S.

Crayfish parties kick off already in August, there’s also an accordion festival in Rhode Island, a Spelmansstämma in Minnesota... check events listings at nordstjernan.com for dates and locations. When it comes to major festivals, on the east coast there’s ScanFest in New Jersey on Sept. 04; in the Midwest there’s the Annual Scandinavian Day Festival or Vasa Park, Illinois on Sept. 11. Further west, in Minot, ND, the incredible Norsk Høstfest – really a Scandinavian/Nordic event which draws thousands and thousands on Sept 27 through Oct. 1. The Lindsborg Svensk Hyllningsfest on Oct. 7-8 - a festive tribute to the pioneering settlers in Lindsborg, Kansas. Then later, a long list of Leif Erikson or John Ericson celebrations throughout the USA.
