How much do you know about Skåne?

Ales Stenar, a megalithic monument in Skåne, probably from the end of the Nordic Iron Age. Skånsk folklore ascribes the stones to King Ale's grave. Ale's Stones consists of a 67 meter long stone ship formed by 59 large boulders of sandstone. There are many speculations about the significance of Ale's Stones, one of those is that the structure had an astronomical and/or astrological purpose, based on the controversial interpretation that the stones have been positioned according to the 365 days of the year and the 24 hours of the day. However, many established scholars call this pseudo-science. Professional astronomers and archaeologists believe Ales Stenar is a cremation grave.

Skånsk spettekaka. A dessert consisting of eggs, potato flour, and sugar which is put on a skewer and rotated over an open fire. Today, however, few bakeries bake spettekakor over open fire as it's time-consuming and requires several people. Spettekaka is traditionally served with dark roast coffee, vanilla ice cream and port wine. Skånsk spettekaka or spiddekage has PGI-status (Protected Geographical Indication) under EU law, meaning that it's ensured that only products genuinely originating in a specific region are allowed in commerce as such. People usually give a spettekaka away for birthdays.
