HELSINGBORG – Alexander Gerndt scored for the fourth time in six games to keep Helsingborg in first place as HIF held off Trelleborg 1-0 Aug. 25 at Olympia Stadium. Helsingborg remains one point ahead of Malmo FF in the race for the Swedish title. Gerndt scored 10 minutes into the match. He has 12 goals this season, including the eight he scored for Gefle before his move to Helsingborg. -
Malmö 2, Halmstad 0
HALMSTAD – Malmö FF kept pace with Helsingborg, beating Halmstad 2-0 Aug. 23 at Örjans vall. Swedish Under-21 international Agon Mehmeti scored both goals for Malmö, which trails league leaders Helsingborg by just one point. The brace gave Mehmeti eight goals this season, a new career high for the 21-year-old forward. -
Örebro 1, AIK 0
ÖREBRO – Nordin Gerzic left it till late to give Örebro a 1-0 win over AIK Aug. 24 at the Behrn Arena. Gerzic tallied at the stroke of full time. The goal was his second the season. Örebro vaulted past Elfsborg to take over third place in the standings. -
Djurgården 2, Göteborg 0
SOLNA – Djurgården continued its climb back to respectability with a 2-0 win over IFK Göteborg Aug. 23 at Råsunda Stadium. Philip Hellquist put DIF in front after 34 minutes, notching his third goal of the season. Kennedy Igboananike made it 2-0 in the 90th minute. Göteborg played a man down for 14 minutes after Ragnar Sigurdsson picked up his second yellow card of the match in the 76th minute. -
Åtvidaberg 2, Kalmar 1
KALMAR – Last-place Åtvidaberg scored just its fourth win of the season when it beat Kalmar 2-1 Aug. 22 at Fredriksskans. Erik Moberg fired AFF in front after 61 minutes before Daniel Sobralense tied the game five minutes later. Oscar Möller scored the winner for Åtvidaberg in the 75th minute. -
BK Häcken 1, Elfsborg 1
GÖTEBORG – Elfsborg slipped to fourth place after playing to a 1-1 draw with Häcken Aug. 22 at Rambergsvallen. Jonas Henricksson put Hacken on top in the 90th minute but league-leading scorer Denni Avidc struck an injury-time equalizer. The goal was the 17th of the season for Avdic. Danish international Jesper Christiansen made a short-lived debut for Elfsborg, leaving the game with an injury after playing just 58 minutes. -
Gefle 3, Mjällby 3
GÄVLE - Mostapha El Kabir and Jakob Orlov traded braces and Gefle and Mjällby traded three leads before settling for a 3-3 draw Aug. 21 at Strömvallen. El Kabir scored twice for Mjällby in the first half while Orlov scored twice in the second. Juan Robeldo scored a 90th-minute equalizer for equalizer for Mjällby. Jonas Lantto had the third goal for Gefle. -
GAIS 1, Brommapojkarna 1
GÖTEBORG – BP striker Sinan Ayranci scored his first career Allsvenskan goal in the fourth but it wasn’t enough as GAIS rallied for a 1-1 draw Aug. 23 at Gamla Ullevi. Eyjólfur Hédinsson tied the game for GAIS at the 37-minute mark. -
