Perfect your skills and learn new techniques at the much-awaited biennial Nordic Knitting Conference. The 2021 conference features classes on knitting, felting, and weaving taught by renowned instructors from the Nordic countries and North America.

Spanning two weekends, the keynote lecture and the majority of classes offered November 5-7 will be on-site at the Museum, and classes offered November 12-14 will be virtual live-streaming events. The keynote lecture will also be available online beginning November 12.

Our opening weekend features a keynote lecture on Saturday, November 6, with sisters Janelle and Lisa Iglesias—practicing artists and studio art professors at the University of California San Diego and Mount Holyoke College who collaborate as “Las Hermanas Iglesias” (Spanish for “the Iglesias sisters”). Along with their Norwegian-born mother Bodhild Brendryen Iglesias, they co-create hand-knit and woven works inspired by familial traditions. Their work is the focus of our special exhibition M(other) Tongues: Bodhild and Las Hermanas Iglesias, which will be on display during the conference. Admission to the exhibition is free for all conference registrants. Join us for the reception following the keynote for the opportunity to meet this fascinating family of artists in person.
