On October 24, 1975, 90% of Iceland’s women walked off the job and out of their homes, refusing to work, cook, or provide childcare for a single day.
The result was extraordinary: Iceland came to a standstill, and a movement was sparked that would help transform the country into one of the world's leading nations for gender equality.

Join us for a screening of The Day Iceland Stood Still, an uplifting and surprisingly humorous documentary by directors Pamela Hogan and Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir.
Told through firsthand accounts from the women who organized and participated in the historic strike, and enhanced with playful animation and archival footage, the film explores the collective power of ordinary people to create lasting social change.
