“[A] unique and wonderful story” (Allas) — this December, see the inspiring new documentary Catwalk: From Glada Hudik to New York/ Catwalk – från Glada Hudik till New York (Sweden, 2020; dir. Johan Skog) in New Nordic Cinema at Scandinavia House!

Emma Örtlund has had a lifelong dream of becoming a fashion model, and asks Pär Johansson, founder of the Happy Hudik Theatre, for help. It’s an unattainable dream for most people — and seemingly even more so for people with disabilities like Emma, and the four young theater members who decide to join her on her mission. As they together embark on an exciting and bewildering journey to fulfill the impossible, their unique personalities and stories deliver joy and inspiration to the fashion world and beyond; making a powerful statement about the importance of equal value, disabled or not, while giving them their time to shine.

Uplifting, entertaining, emotional and inspiring, Catwalk truly is a film for our times. (95 min. In Swedish and English with English subtitles)

Film screenings will take place as a 3 PM matinee and 7 PM evening showing. Tickets to this event must be purchased in advance online at the link; film screenings will take place in Victor Borge Hall. All attendees are required to present proof of vaccination upon arrival in compliance with New York State government.
