Concert with Oskar Stenmark

Oskar Stenmark's grandmother was born in Dalarna and played violin from an early age. Her father and uncle were two highly regarded fiddlers in the Siljan region, their melodies have been passed on to Oskar. He represents a tradition that stretches back hundreds of years, some of the melodies traced to the 18th century.
The music has resulted in a record and multiple performances with his trio, Piatruba.

60 years ago Oskar's grandmother came to Chicago to tour with "Rättvik's Spelmanslag," playing the traditional melodies that he plays today as well. Now Oskar is following his grandmother's footsteps and will be performing at the Swedish American Museum. Bring a brown bag lunch at noon to enjoy the concert that will start at 12:30 p.m.
