Children's After School Program

Hejsan, the Swedish American Museum's after-school program, is held the first and third Thursday of each month from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. This term Hejsan will focus on children's literature. Below is the complete schedule for the spring:

March 20: “Snip, Snapp, Snurr and the Big Surprise” by Maj Lindman (Treasure Box)
April 3: “Children of the Forest” by Elsa Beskow (Mushroom Hat)
April 17: “Pelle’s New Suit” by Elsa Beskow (Illustrating with Fabric)
May 1: “The Fox Hunt” by Sven Nordqvist (Origami Foxes)
May 15: “Reaching for the Moon” by Buzz Aldrin (Moon Painting)
June 5: “Hiccup the Seasick Viking” by Cressida Cowell (Viking Medallion)
June 19: “The Man Who Knew Better” Scandinavian Folk Tale (Making Butter)

This program is designed for children ages 5 to 10, where they learn about particular topics in Swedish-American culture and make themed crafts. Younger children are welcome under the supervision of an adult. Cost: $1 per child. Reservations are recommended and can be made via email (snyman@samac.org).
