Midsommar will soon be upon us – it is one of the most popular celebrations for Swedes, both in Sweden and in this country. This is the season when music fills the air — a time when relatives and friends gather in the open meadow around flower-bedecked tables of food. This festival is traditionally as beautiful as it is entertaining.
Join us on Saturday, June 15th from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM, as we invite you to celebrate with us at a traditional Midsommar celebration on the grounds of the Erlander Home Museum and Nordic Cultural Center.
This Swedish festival welcomes the arrival of the summer solstice. The event will feature a traditional maypole raising and Swedish folk dancing & music, a Swedish pancake eating contest and shopping at Mormor’s Attic treasures sale. Swedish food will be available at the Stockholm Inn pavilion and don’t forget to purchase your favorite Swedish bakery. Additional food vendors this year will include Cafe on Wheels, The Vintage Goose Cafe, and Old Folks BBQ. Pig Minds Brewing Co. will be onsite with delicious draft brews to cool you down!
Children’s take away crafts will be available and meet & play games with Pippi Longstocking. Make your own flower crown or purchase one handcrafted for you! Tour the first floor of the Erlander Home Museum from Mr. John Erlander himself! Listen to wonderful music throughout the day provided by ScandiJam and Trinadora, while experience a walking tour of historic Haight Village. Daytime admission is free!
Midsommar has been sponsored by: Verdandi Lodge #3, I.O.S. , Accurate Accounting & Payroll Services, Savant Wealth Management, Sjostrom & Sons, A& A Construction, JRB Well Drilling, Rockford Business Systems and The Flower Bin.
