Shop local in a global-feeling setting! Inspired by wintertime markets across Europe, ASI’s Julmarknad features an outdoor Handcraft Fair, with wares for sale by more than 15 local artisans, as well as musical performances, family activities and plenty of holiday cheer.
Cozy up around the bonfire in ASI’s courtyard and enjoy Nordic winter snacks by FIKA such as toasted nuts, warm glögg and hot chocolate, served up at outdoor food booths during the day. For lunch, open-faced sandwiches by FIKA will be served in Larson Hall. (Please note: FIKA’s regular menu will not be available.) Take home an assortment of holiday baked goods from the Christmas Bake Sale (Saturday only)!
Bring the kids to meet Tomte, the Swedish Christmas elf, enjoy storytime, get creative and make a special holiday handcraft project, or drop in to watch Christmas cartoons.
Explore the elaborately decorated Turnblad Mansion and this year’s holiday exhibits, which include the beloved annual holiday rooms featuring holiday traditions and farm-to-table seasonal cuisine.
The Museum Shop’s Jul Room is filled with the best in Nordic holiday décor and seasonal items—and plenty of gift ideas for everyone on your list!
Admission: $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6–18, free for children 5 and under, and ASI members. No special museum admission discounts accepted on this day. All proceeds from the Julmarknad benefit the American Swedish Institute.
