MIDSOMMAR at Vasa Park NJ - A Celebration of the Summer Solstice!
Midsommar will be held RAIN or SHINE on Saturday, June 22, 2013,on the grounds of beautiful Vasa Park. Gate opens at 12 Noon, and parking is Free. Admission for Adults $10, Children under 12 are Free.
Celebrate the longest day of the year the Scandinavian Way! Help the SWEA Ladies decorate and raise the Maypole. Children can make a flower wreath for their hair, and learn Scandinavian Ring Dances to dance around the Maypole.
Swedish Children's Day, Barnensdag, will include activities for children as well as Scandinavian Dance performances by Skansen Children's Club and Vasastjarnan Junion Club in their Traditional Folk Costumes.
Well-known band leader Jeanne Eriksson Widman Anderssen and Smorgas Bandet and Ed Hendela will provide music under the Pavilion for your listening and dancing pleasure.
Vendors will offer Scandinavian products,crafts,and packaged foods. Relax in our picnic grove and satisfy your appetite with a variety of Scandinavian and all-American foods and our famous Big Olaf ice cream in freshly-made vanilla waffle bowls.
A Dinner and Dance (additional fee) will be held at 5pm in Viking Hall.
