Tegnell rejects neighboring countries' concerns
The Nordic neighboring countries have pointed out Swedes as a problem to open up a Nordic travel bubble, but FHM's Anders Tegnell rejects concerns. "This summer it may be that we have so many immune in Sweden that it can be safer to have Swedes visit than anyone else," he says. It was not visiting Italians who brought the infection into Sweden but Swedes who visited Italy, he says. “What they should do is prevent their own population from traveling to Sweden," says Tegnell. -
Sweden's first 5G network activated
On May 24, Tele2 activated Sweden's first public 5G network, the company announced in a press release. Customers at Tele2 will thus "soon" be able to use the mobile network at speeds in excess of 1 gigabit per second, in Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö. Around the same time a technical manager at Telia released information that Telia and Ericsson were first to launch 5G networks in Sweden, and that the operator has had 10 active sites in Stockholm already since April 24. To gain access to the network your mobile phone has to be 5G compliant, which most of today’s phones are not. -
96 new deaths - a total of 4,125 deceased
A further 96 deaths due to covid-19 have been registered in Sweden today. The total death toll in the country is 4,125, according to the Public Health Authority (FHM). The figures reported on holidays can be misleading, as there is a lag in reporting. The trend of the number of people admitted to intensive care continues to decline according to FHM. -
