Calling citizens of the world: April 18-24 marks the campaign week during which H&M (Hennes & Mauritz) aims to collect hundreds of thousands of unwanted garments from people everywhere. In its more than 3,600 stores in cities around the globe, the internationally successful Swedish clothing retailer's recycling initiative aims to “close the loop” in the fashion industry by collecting unwanted garments from customers who visit their stores, then creating recycled textile fibers for new products.
To raise awareness for this year’s World Recycle Week, which H&M initiated in 2013, musical artist M.I.A. wrote the song "Rewear it" exclusively for H&M; the music and lyrics have been interpreted into dance moves for the campaign’s video. The result is a video featuring M.I.A. and an eclectic cast of interesting and inspirational people with a passion for environmental and social sustainability issues, all with a strong personal style and attitude. For more on donating unwanted garments at an H&M location near you, or to see the video, visit http://www.hm.com/us/ -
