Stockholm's South is one of the world’s hippest neighborhoods, according to the September 2014 issue of Vogue magazine. Söder or Södermalm ranks high.
“In this day and age, ‘cool’ and ‘Stockholm’ are essentially synonymous,” writes Nick Remsen in the article, which identifies the 15 coolest neighborhoods in the world.
The honor goes to neighborhoods with both chic and pragmatic street trends, boutiques, stores and more, awarding Södermalm a spot in third place.
Topping the list are Shimokitazawa in Tokyo, Japan and West Queen West in Toronto, Canada. And three American neighborhoods made the list: Bushwick, New York gets the seventh spot, Wynwood, Miami is ninth and Silver Lake, Los Angeles is twelfth.

Citing health problems, Swedish record producer and DJ of electronic dance music, Avicii (aka Tim Bergling), from Stockholm, has called off his shows for the remainder of the year. He underwent surgeries in March when his appendix and gall bladder were removed, and he is still recovering. According to his management, the star is resting in Stockholm, gaining strength for the launch of an upcoming album. “He's been working so much and simply hasn’t had time to recover. To be able to come back strong on his feet, he has to rest,” said the star’s half-brother and spokesperson, Anton Körberg. On medical advice, Avicii cancelled his concerts scheduled for the next couple months in Las Vegas, Atlanta, Shanghai and Japan.
Avicii, who just turned 25, made history in 2012 by being the first DJ to headline the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. He is most recently recognized for his internationally popular hit "Wake Me Up," featuring the voice of the American R&B singer Aloe Blacc.
